Embers, Faith & Fire
July 26, 2026 | Matthew 17.14-24 | Rob Collis
What happens when we put our small steps of faith into the hands of our mighty God? In Matthew’s Gospel, there are five times when Jesus talks about his followers having ‘little faith.' we can often read and hear this phrase as a term of derision or rebuke, but that doesn’t match with how Jesus responds to them. Whenever his disciples demonstrate even a small measure of faith in him, Jesus always responds by showing them something amazing about who he is!
This week, Rob Collis continues our series, Small and Mighty, by looking at Matthew 1714-24. In this passage, a desperate father goes in search of Jesus in order to heal his son, but winds up with the disciples, who discover that they don’t really know how to help. Yet through it all, Jesus is wanting to blow on the embers of our hearts, to fan our faith into a roaring flame.
