Storm on the Sea

July 5, 2026 | Matthew 8.23-27 | Rob Collis

What happens when we put our small steps of faith into the hands of our mighty God? In Matthew’s Gospel, there are five times when Jesus talks about his followers having ‘little faith.' we can often read and hear this phrase as a term of derision or rebuke, but that doesn’t match with how Jesus responds to them. Whenever his disciples demonstrate even a small measure of faith in him, Jesus always responds by showing them something amazing about who he is!

This week Rob Collis begins our new series, Small and Mighty, by looking at Matthew 8.23-27, when Jesus calmed a storm at sea. As he unpacks this passage, he looks at the step of faith, the storm at sea, and the surprise by Jesus, as we are invited to place our small steps of faith into the hands of our mighty God.
